I'm Hemal Samaranayake, a professional and organized banker with great communication and negotiation skills. Having learned a lot about the ins and outs of banking procedures and processes, I'm currently pursuing my Masters at ICL Graduate Business School where I work to refine my skills and experience even further. I have obtained a Diploma in Banking and Finance at Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and Master of Business administration at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I have studied Finance management, economics, marketing, risk management, law related to banking and Management Information, strategic management and many other important topics mostly related to banking and finance. I have 30 years of experience for my capstone and learned a lot about banking processes and procedures.
As the Senior Bank Manager at DFCC Bank, attached to the Central Branch Operations Unit and was the second in command in the unit overlooking 85 staff members including 05 Managers and 134 branches. Approving operational deviations requested by branch staff, suggestions to improve operations efficiency, training and coaching subordinates towards compliance, mitigating operational risk and maintaining high service level standards relating to compliance, settlements, operations and credit related procedures were some of the responsibilities. Further, Risk assessing, internal auditing and handling investigations for fraudulent activities and misconducts in banking by staff and providing training for the operational staff ensuring best practice in customer service. Further well updated on all routing bank policies and procedures and their changes in time-to-time.

Since March 2022, I have been enrolled in ICL Graduate Business School, New Zealand to read Master of Business Informatics. While completing the program, I came to an understanding that how important IT and business are in bringing about significant company chances in the future. Especially after developing strategic planning, effective operation matters, building team work, leadership management and skills across different company areas. In addition, I believe as per the course content, I will be enrich with a breadth of knowledge in enterprise systems, information security, and IT service management related to distributed computing and cloud computing methodologies which I could not cover in my previous studies and further will be beneficial for my future plans with being and IT venture expert in banking and finance.
Further, the knowledge gathered from difference spheres of management and passionate involvement in and around the business world creates a deep desire to study at an advanced level of research learning which leads to a doctorial study while actively contributing to academia. To perceive my desired objectives, I found that this especially designed Master of Business Informatics program would surely provide a clear pathway.
I believe this unique Master’s program will provide me with an enormous opportunity to continue to be an innovative business catalyst by enriching my self in the field of business analysis process and service management, security information architecture an IT-related banking professionalism which would surely strengthen my awareness in future trend in many business areas.
